Hans Lenk is professor emeritus of philosophy at Karlsruhe University (TH), Germany. A former president of the German Philosophical Society, he served as Vice President of FISP, 1998-2003, and as President of the Institut International de Philosophie (IIP, World Academy of philosophers), 2005-08. He is a member of the International Academy of the Philosophy of the Sciences and of the Russian Academy of Science. He was Dean of the European Faculty of Land Use and Development, Strasbourg. Currently he is still president of five international philosophical societies and Honorary President of the IIP. He is a former Olympic champion in rowing.
